CodyCuddleSmallHere is the real writing team behind the name, Susan Reiss!

(I’m the one with long hair.) Cody is usually curled up under my desk or stretched out behind my chair, just in case I try to sneak away without him knowing it.  I know what a joy a faithful companion can be.  And an inspiration.  That’s why my main characters have a sidekick.  All dogs, so far.  But you never know.

I trained as a concert pianist then worked in television as a writer/producer for many years. My work has received a Silver Medal, New York International Film Festival, the Cine Golden Eagle, three Tellys and numerous Emmy nominations.

It was wonderful writing for the small and big screen and many productions are on film and DVD, but I’ve always had a hidden desire to write a book that could put on the shelf… and take out to read whenever I wanted.

A native of Washington, D.C., I fell in love with the Maryland Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay many years ago.  When I moved there full-time, I decided to combine that dream with two of my other loves:  St. Michaels and fine sterling silver… and, of course, a good story.

So, the Silver Mystery Series was born that includes Tarnished Silver, Sacred Silver and Painted Silver.  In response to the request of many readers, I released an updated version of Mr. Hollister’s Butler’s Guide to Fine Silver.

I started collecting fine sterling silver when I was young.  Along the way, I’ve gathered many stories and tidbits about these pieces, their care, use and traditions.

I blog about several things including sterling silver, the writing process and happenings… and I’m sad to report that my world shook in September.  After a long life and a short illness, Cody left me in body… but curious things have been happening in my study and around the house, so I suspect he’s still watching what I’m doing.  No, no plans for a puppy, but a friend offered me a Great Dane puppy!  Thank you, no.  The area under my desk isn’t big enough!

One of my favorite thing to do is to connect with you, the reader.  Please let me know what you’re thinking and type in your email address to receive an occasional note about things.

Looking forward to getting in touch!
